Our usual process is to lay out six pyke nets overnight at selected sites: three above and three below the weir.

 

We often sample inanga, eels and even giant kokupo.  We capture for counting and then release.

We conduct these surveys to monitor the health of the stream which is still below acceptable standards. We are concerned about fish numbers.
