An area off Rishworth Street known as Rishworth Reserve borders the Waiwhetū Stream. This has been planted with native species to decrease effects of flooding.
Natives are planted and managed at the reserve. Regular weeding is a significant part of the management to ensure plants are able to grow effectively.
Managing and suppressing weeds is helped by mulching.
We are continually tracking for pests such as rats and mustelids that will negatively impact the reserve. We have a trapping regime and keep records of what is caught.
We are working on a bird count in the reserve.
